On August 9, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev called the President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

During the conversation, the beginning of Azerbaijani natural gas exports to Syria through the territory of Turkey was regarded as a positive event, and it was stated that this would contribute to Syria's energy security and strengthen the social well-being of its population.
