Ilham Aliyev called Recep Tayyip Erdogan

On August 9, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev called the President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

As reported by AZERTAG, during the telephone conversation, satisfaction was expressed with the development of relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey based on brotherhood and strategic alliance in various fields.

The importance of documents signed during President Ilham Aliyev's visit to the United States was noted, particularly the declaration signed by the President of Azerbaijan and the Prime Minister of Armenia with the witness of the US President, the initialing of the Agreement on the establishment of peace and interstate relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as the joint appeal on the abolition of the OSCE Minsk Group, from the perspective of ensuring lasting peace and stability in the region.

Noting the special role of US President Donald Trump in achieving these results, the head of our state expressed confidence that the transport connection, which will serve to establish unhindered communication between the main part of Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan region, will contribute to the prosperity of the entire region.

The head of our state highly appreciated the role of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and brotherly Turkey in the normalization process between Armenia and Azerbaijan and expressed gratitude for this.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan congratulated President Ilham Aliyev on his demonstrated leadership in advancing the peace agenda in the region and noted that Turkey always supports peace and stability in the region.

During the conversation, the beginning of Azerbaijani natural gas exports to Syria through the territory of Turkey was regarded as a positive event, and it was stated that this would contribute to Syria's energy security and strengthen the social well-being of its population.

During the telephone conversation, views were exchanged on the prospects of Azerbaijani-Turkish brotherly ties.
