Azerbaijan deepens cooperation with the D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation as a full member.

As BAKU.WS reports with reference to Report, this is stated in a Euronews article about the D-8 media forum, which was held in Baku for the first time.

It is noted that Azerbaijan, as a member of D-8, plays the role of a coordination platform for developing countries with predominantly Muslim populations in global economic discussions, and is putting forward a number of initiatives for full integration with the bloc.

The authors of the article recall that at the event, a message from President Ilham Aliyev was read to the participants, which noted that one of the initial tasks of the media forum is to form reliable cooperation between the media structures of D-8 members, creating an unbiased, objective and responsible information space. It is noted that important results were achieved during the forum in Baku, such as the creation of the D-8 Media Excellence Center and the development of new strategies to combat disinformation.

According to D-8 Secretary General Isiaka Abdulkader Imam, this forum is one of the first major events that Azerbaijan is hosting after joining the organization in March 2025. The article also emphasizes the importance of the Secretary General's initiative to create a Broadcasting Association for the organization.

"The Media Excellence Center will help strengthen the collective voice of D-8 member states in the global information space, as well as accelerate the creation of the Broadcasting Association," Euronews quotes Imam as saying.

"The population of D-8 member countries with rapidly developing economies is more than 1 billion people. Azerbaijan's membership was the first step towards expanding the organization since its establishment about 30 years ago," the TV channel emphasizes.
