The Azerbaijani side called on the Armenian side to accelerate the process of signing a peace agreement and noted that this opportunity will not be eternal.

As Report informs with reference to the Argentine publication Perfil, this was stated by Elchin Amirbekov, the special representative of the President of Azerbaijan, who is visiting Buenos Aires.

"One of the factors encouraging Armenia to reach an agreement is the realization that this opportunity will not be eternal, it would be a mistake to miss it," Amirbekov said.

According to him, the negotiations on the text of a peace agreement between Baku and Yerevan that concluded this month open the way to normalizing relations and establishing diplomatic ties. However, for this, Armenia must amend its constitution, abandon territorial claims, and withdraw foreign forces from border areas.

"This agreement is not the end, but the beginning. Peace is built not on statements, but on concrete steps," emphasized the Azerbaijani official.

Perfil reminds that Azerbaijan in 2023 restored full control over the Karabakh region, which led to the beginning of the peace process. However, despite the agreements reached, tensions between the countries persist.

At a meeting with Argentine Interior Minister Guillermo Francos, Elchin Amirbekov noted that the issue cannot be viewed from the perspective of only one side. According to him, it is important to consider Azerbaijan's position, especially in light of the principle of territorial integrity, which Argentina defends in the context of the dispute over the Malvinas Islands.

"We want to convey Azerbaijan's point of view to the Argentine public so that their decision or judgment is based not only on the position of one side," he stated.

As Perfil notes, Azerbaijan seeks to convey its position to the international community, especially given its role in Europe's energy sector and the changing geopolitical balance in the region.
