On February 24, organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, PASHA Holding, and PMD Projects, a ceremony was held at the Shabran branch of the "Azerkhalcha" Open Joint Stock Company to cut from the loom the latest carpets woven for the Shusha Mosque. The carpets are the result of the joint efforts of the creative team and weavers of "Azerkhalcha" OJSC.

As reported by AZERTAC, the carpet cutting ceremony was attended by Leyla Aliyeva. Leyla Aliyeva familiarized herself with the workshop's activities, spoke with the weavers, and, having tied the final knots on the carpets woven for the Shusha Mosque, took part in the ceremony of cutting them from the loom.

It should be noted that the carpets intended for the interior of the second floor of the Shusha Mosque were woven based on a special design in accordance with national carpet weaving traditions. Each carpet is 12 meters wide and 19 meters long, with the total length of the two carpets being 38 meters. Work on these carpets, intended for the section of the mosque designated for women's prayer, began on January 21, 2025. About 50 female weavers participated in the creation of the two carpets woven in Shabran, making nearly 50 million knots. The carpets represent the epitome of high professionalism and the embodiment of the rich artistic heritage of Azerbaijani carpet weaving art. For their full production, two new weaving looms were specially ordered in a completely new, unique style. The looms were manufactured specifically for "Azerkhalcha" OJSC by a group of specialists invited from abroad.

It should be recalled that earlier this month, with the participation of Leyla Aliyeva, a ceremony was held to cut from the loom a handmade round carpet with a diameter of 22.17 meters, produced for the first floor of the Shusha Mosque, which has no analogues in the world history of carpet weaving. This unique work of art was created based on motifs of the Karabakh group of carpets and "Khatai" ornaments. 150 female weavers participated in the production of the carpet, with approximately 60 million knots tied.
