President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed an order on additional measures to improve the drinking water supply to the population in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

As reported by BAKU.WS, the document states:

"Guided by paragraph 32 of Article 109 of the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan, in accordance with the "Action Plan for Ensuring Rational Use of Water Resources in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic for 2026-2030," approved by Order No. 942 of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated February 21, 2026, in order to improve the drinking water supply to the population in a number of settlements of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, I hereby decree:

1. The State Water Resources Agency of Azerbaijan, in coordination with the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, shall take appropriate measures to prepare design and estimate documentation, drill 40 sub-artesian wells in 38 settlements with a population of more than 80 thousand people, specified in the appendix to this Order, and ensure the drinking water supply to the population.

2. The Commission established by Order No. 1986 of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On Measures to Ensure Rational Use of Water Resources" dated April 15, 2020, shall resolve issues of coordination of measures provided for in Part 1 of this Order.

3. The Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic shall resolve issues arising from this Order.

4. The Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan shall, as applicable, take necessary measures to finance the activities provided for in Part 1 of this Order."
