Azerbaijan elected as vice-chair of UNESCO bureau

February 17-20, 2026, the 19th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions was held at UNESCO headquarters. The Permanent Delegation of the Republic of Azerbaijan to UNESCO participated in the meeting.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Trend, on February 20, in accordance with the agenda, elections were held for the bureau for the 20th session of the committee. As a result, Azerbaijan was unanimously elected as vice-chair of the bureau.

Azerbaijan's election to this position demonstrates the international community's high appreciation of the country's contribution to the protection and promotion of cultural diversity, as well as to the implementation of the goals and principles of the relevant UNESCO convention.
