The question of expelling Ramiz Mehtiyev from ANAS has been removed from the agenda of the general assembly
The question of expelling former Head of the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan Ramiz Mehtiyev from full membership in the National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) was removed from the agenda of today's general assembly of the academy.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Oxu.Az, today's session of ANAS was attended by the president of the academy Isa Habibbayli, Deputy Minister of Science and Education Firudin Gurbanov, and representatives of state and governmental structures.
Only one item was included on the session's agenda - a report on the scientific and organizational activities of ANAS research organizations and higher education institutions in 2025.
In conclusion, a decision of the ANAS presidium will be adopted.
It should be noted that it was previously reported that the question of expelling Ramiz Mehtiyev from the ranks of full members of ANAS had been included on the agenda of the general assembly.
As a reminder, former ANAS president Ramiz Mehtiyev is charged under Articles 278.1 (actions aimed at seizing state power), 274 (treason), and 193-1.3.2 (laundering of property obtained through criminal means) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Within the framework of this criminal case, the chairman of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA) Ali Karimli, his advisor Mamed Ibrahim, former head of the ANAS secretariat and ex-employee of the Presidential Administration Eldar Amirov have also been arrested.
