New sanitary norms and rules approved in Azerbaijan

New sanitary norms and rules have been approved in Azerbaijan.

This was reported by the Food Safety Agency of Azerbaijan (AFSA).

In order to protect consumer health, as well as to bring the minimum requirements for the quality and safety of food products of animal origin into compliance with international standards, new regulatory legal acts have been approved.

The new rules, approved by the relevant decisions of the AFSA board, will strengthen the mechanisms of state control in the areas of animal husbandry, feed production, and food safety in the country.

Another decision introduced amendments to the "Sanitary norms and rules regarding residual amounts of pharmacologically active substances classified as veterinary drugs in food products of animal origin." This decision establishes improved requirements for the maximum permissible residue limits of pharmacologically active substances that may pose a threat to human health in food products of animal origin, such as meat, milk, eggs, and honey.

The sanitary norms and rules approved by the said decisions will come into effect on January 1, 2027.
