Ministry of Emergency Situations addressed the population

According to the National Hydrometeorological Service, on February 17-18, against the backdrop of strengthening western winds and gradual air temperature increases, the likelihood of avalanches is increasing in a number of high-mountain regions.

In connection with this, the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) of Azerbaijan has once again reminded citizens about safety rules.

The agency emphasized that to protect against avalanches, one should stay away from places where they may occur, including steep slopes, and in case an avalanche begins, it is necessary to quickly leave the dangerous zone or take shelter under rocks.

It is noted that if escaping from an avalanche is impossible, one should throw belongings aside, squat down, press knees to the chest, and position the body in the direction of the snow flow movement.

In case of danger, one should call the MES hotline "112".
