Abbas Abbasov: Media Played a Key Role in Promoting Decolonization

The media have played an indispensable role in efforts to raise global awareness about the consequences of colonialism and the importance of the decolonization process.

As Report conveys, this was stated by the Executive Director of the Baku Initiative Group (BIG) Abbas Abbasov at the international conference "Media and Decolonization: Rising Voices, Amplifying Narratives" in Baku.

"Over the past three years, the Baku Initiative Group has made significant progress in raising global awareness about the consequences of colonialism and the importance of the decolonization process. Undoubtedly, the media have played an indispensable role in these efforts," Abbasov said.

He emphasized that the dedication, professionalism, and efforts of journalists play a vital role in raising global awareness.

"Your profession demands dedication and integrity. It is a dynamic and demanding field that often involves working under high pressure and tight deadlines. We highly value your commitment and responsibility, which are crucial for raising public awareness and informing societies," the BIG Executive Director noted.
