A sand whirlwind was observed in Azerbaijan
A natural phenomenon resembling a sandstorm has been recorded in Azerbaijan.
As reported by BAKU.WS, a video of an unusual natural phenomenon has appeared on social media. It is reported that a powerful sand whirlwind was observed in the territory of the village of Khyrmandaly in the Bilasuvar district.
A whirlwind is an extremely powerful wind phenomenon that forms in a limited area as a result of a sharp drop in atmospheric pressure. In flat terrains, where the pressure difference between warm and cold air masses is particularly large, localized whirlwinds can occur.
This was reported by Deputy Head of the National Hydrometeorological Service Gulnara Abbasova in response to an inquiry from the BAKU.WS website.
She noted that there is no meteorological observation station in the area where the video was presumably filmed, so it is not possible to confirm or deny the occurrence of this localized phenomenon.
