SOCAR will create an AI center and a data center in Azerbaijan

The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) will establish an artificial intelligence center and a data center in the country.

As Report informs, SOCAR President Rovshan Najaf announced this during a panel discussion at the Baku Energy Week.

He noted that SOCAR is expanding its scope of activities and investing in new projects in the fields of energy and digital technologies.

"SOCAR started its operations as an oil company, then became an oil and gas company, and at a later stage – an energy company, incorporating renewable energy sources and combined cycle gas turbine power plants into its portfolio. The next stage of the company's development is related to the area of data centers and AI infrastructure. Like many energy sector companies, we are also investing in the area of data centers and AI. This direction is of strategic importance for maintaining competitiveness in the long term," he said.
