Azerbaijan significantly increased potato imports from Belarus
Azerbaijan imported 67,202 tons of potatoes (excluding seed potatoes) worth $24.6 million in January-April 2026.
According to Report's calculations based on data from the State Statistics Committee, this is 15% less in value terms and 19% less in volume terms compared to the corresponding period last year.
During the reporting period, Azerbaijan imported 24,548 tons of potatoes from Iran (14 times more) worth $8.85 million (+19 times), 23,696 tons from Turkey (-51%) worth $8.6 million (-46%), 8,227 tons from Georgia (-56%) worth $3 million (-55%), 3,987 tons from Russia (+22 times) worth $1.5 million (+33 times), and 3,184 tons from Belarus worth $1.2 million (+197 times).
In 2025, Turkey accounted for 46% of the 131,340 tons of potatoes imported into Azerbaijan, while Georgia accounted for 17%.
