Why didn't Russia and the USA issue a joint statement after the negotiations in Riyadh?

Joint statement following the negotiations between the delegations of the United States and Russia in Riyadh was not adopted due to "Ukraine's position."

This was stated by Vladimir Chizhov, Deputy Chairman of the Defense Committee of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, on the air of the TV channel "Russia-24".

"They sat for 12 hours and seemingly agreed on a joint statement, which, however, was not adopted due to Ukraine's position," he said.

According to Chizhov, at the moment nothing is known about the specific content of the dialogue. The senator urged to wait until their details become "public knowledge." He noted that the very fact of the negotiations is a positive factor.
