WHO Chief Makes Alarming Statement Regarding New Pandemic

A possible new pandemic could break out in the world, even as soon as tomorrow, said the Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to TASS, the WHO chief called on countries to accelerate work on an agreement to prevent pandemics. Speaking to ambassadors of member countries of the organization, he emphasized that despite geopolitical and economic upheavals, we must not forget about the risk of new global threats.
"The COVID-19 pandemic now seems distant, but the next one could come at any moment - in 20 years or as soon as tomorrow. We must be prepared," Ghebreyesus noted. He emphasized the importance of international cooperation and the final stage of work on the WHO pandemic agreement.
According to him, coordinated actions are necessary to ensure global health security. During three years of negotiations, experts have developed a document that takes into account the experience of past crises and the needs of countries. Ghebreyesus expressed confidence that states are ready to come to an agreement.
