# Trump considers diplomatic path with Iran, will decide on possible strikes within two weeks
US President Donald Trump sees prospects for a diplomatic settlement with Iran on the nuclear program issue and intends to make a decision on possible strikes against Iranian facilities within the next two weeks.
As reported by White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt at a briefing for journalists, the head of the American administration has taken a wait-and-see position.
"Given that there is a significant probability of negotiations with Iran, which may or may not take place in the near future, I will make a decision, whether to act or not, within two weeks," she read Trump's statement. "He will make a decision within two weeks," Leavitt emphasized, commenting on the possibility of American strikes on Iran.
Earlier, the American leader did not rule out the possibility of military action against Iran. According to the Axios portal on June 17, citing informed sources, Trump is considering the option of the US joining Israel's military operation and American forces striking the Islamic republic's nuclear facilities.
Recall that Israel began a military operation against Iran on the night of June 13. Less than a day later, the Islamic republic carried out a retaliatory strike. In the following days, the countries continued to exchange strikes. Both sides report casualties and confirm hits on various facilities. Mutual attacks continue.
