Exports of main types of Russian grain crops in the first half of the agricultural year decreased by 17.6 percent compared to the same period last season.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to "Interfax" and data from the Russian Grain Union (RGU), in July-December 2025, Russia shipped 33.9 million tons of grain to foreign markets compared to 41.2 million tons a year earlier. According to Elena Tyurina, director of the analytical department of the RGU, the share of wheat was 82.5 percent - 27.9 million tons, which is 14 percent less than last season's figure (32.5 million tons). Barley shipments decreased by almost 29 percent, and corn by 11.7 percent.

Experts cite increased competition in the global market as the main reason for the decline in exports. In July-December 2025, Russian wheat was purchased by 49 countries, whereas during the same period in 2024, their number reached 69.

Egypt remained the largest buyer of Russian wheat, importing 5.35 million tons - 21 percent less than a year earlier. Supplies to Turkey, on the contrary, almost doubled and amounted to 4.234 million tons. Bangladesh reduced purchases by a third - to 1.833 million tons.

Exports to Algeria and Morocco also decreased, which specialists associate with the reorientation of these countries toward supplies of European wheat.
