Trump stated that the US will face consequences if tariffs are canceled
Defeat in the Supreme Court on the legality of import duties will be devastating for the United States.
As reported by BAKU.WS, President Donald Trump stated this in an interview with Fox News.
"I'll say this: it would be devastating for our country if we lost. This is one of the most important cases in our history," Trump said.
According to him, if Washington had not introduced new import duties, then the USA and other countries "would be in depression."
On November 2, White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt said that President Donald Trump's administration is working on contingency plans in case the Supreme Court rules that the imposition of customs duties is illegal.
The US Supreme Court is considering a lawsuit alleging that the president exceeded his authority in imposing tariffs on imported goods. The administration is represented in court by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.
