Trump made an unexpected decision on the US defense budget

President Donald Trump stated that his administration has approved a defense budget for a record amount - about 1 trillion dollars.

The words of the US president are reported by Bloomberg agency.

"We are saving a lot of money, but we need to build the army, and we must be strong, because there are a lot of bad forces around now," noted the head of state.

Trump added that this budget will become "the biggest budget ever adopted for the army" in the US.

However, on April 5, the portal military.com, citing three officials from the US Department of Defense, reported that the country's army command is considering the possibility of a large-scale reduction in personnel. This involves the dismissal of about 90,000 people.

Currently, approximately 450,000 citizens serve in American troops. It is expected that after personnel changes, their number will decrease to 360-420 thousand.
