Trump: Ceasefire in Ukraine is not mandatory

US President Donald Trump stated that a ceasefire in Ukraine is not necessary, as he aims to achieve a peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia.

This is reported by Clash Report.

"I don't think we need a ceasefire. It would be nice because people would stop dying, but right now we're working on a lasting peace," said the American president.

He stated that other conflicts he helped resolve were settled without first establishing a ceasefire regime.

"I don't think there will be a ceasefire. We can make an agreement aimed at peace while they are fighting. We will discuss security guarantees," the politician noted.

Regarding guarantees for Ukraine, Trump said that even before Russian President Vladimir Putin, it was clear that Russia would never allow Ukraine into NATO: "So such a statement was made, but we haven't discussed anything yet. We will discuss it today. But we will provide them with very good protection, very good security. That's one of the components."

According to Trump, he ended six wars and considered the war in Ukraine to be "the easiest," but it actually turned out to be difficult.

"You know, I like the concept of a ceasefire for one reason - because you stop killing people immediately, unlike two weeks, one week, or whatever. But we can make a deal where we work on a peace agreement while they are fighting. I would like them to stop. But strategically it may turn out to be disadvantageous for one side or the other. But I made all these deals even without mentioning the word 'ceasefire'," he said.
