The date when the US will default has been announced

In mid-July 2025, the United States may face a shortage of funds to pay its obligations, which could lead to a declaration of default.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to The New York Times, such conclusions were made by experts from the Bipartisan Policy Center.

The situation may change if Congress decides to raise the national debt limit. Recall that in June 2023, lawmakers agreed to suspend the $31.4 trillion limit until January 1, 2025. Now this figure is approaching $37 trillion. In the current situation, Republicans are cutting federal positions in government agencies, but are not rushing to cut social programs that contribute to debt growth.

US President Donald Trump, upon taking office, called the national debt limit a trap set by Democrats and proposed to abolish it. However, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent doubts this is possible.
