The crew of Artemis 2 successfully returned to Earth
The crew of the Artemis II mission aboard the American spacecraft "Orion" has returned to Earth.
The astronauts' return was broadcast on the YouTube channel of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
At 8:07 PM Eastern Time (4:07 AM Baku time - ed.), they successfully splashed down using parachutes in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of San Diego.
It is known that before shutting down the spacecraft's engine and transferring it to recovery teams aboard the USS John P. Murtha, engineers will conduct several additional tests.
The Orion crew included NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, and Christina Koch, as well as Jeremy Hansen from the Canadian Space Agency.
Orion's main parachute has deployed. The spacecraft has a system of 11 chutes that will slow it down from around 300 mph to 20 mph for splashdown.
