Pope Leo XIV named one of the challenges for humanity

The newly elected pontiff at a meeting with the cardinal-electors explained the choice of his name and outlined the priorities of his ministry. This was reported on Saturday by the newspaper La Nacion.
"There are several reasons, but the main one is that Pope Leo XIII in his historic encyclical Rerum novarum addressed the social question in the context of the First Great Industrial Revolution, and today the church offers to all its heritage in the form of social doctrine to respond to the new industrial revolution and the development of artificial intelligence, which create new challenges in matters of protecting human dignity, justice and labor," the publication quotes the pontiff's words.
According to La Nacion, during the meeting, Leo XIV also emphasized his commitment to the priorities that were established by his predecessor Pope Francis.
"Let us take this precious heritage and continue the journey, inspired by the same hope that faith gives us," the new Pope urged.
Recall that Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost was elected by the college of cardinals as the 267th Pope on May 8.
