Deputy from the "Armenia" faction of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Arthur Sargsyan has been arrested.

As BAKU.WS reports with reference to Armenian media, the decision was made by the Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan.

The day before, Sargsyan voluntarily appeared at the Investigative Committee (IC) of the Republic of Armenia, immediately after the parliament granted the Prosecutor General's request to strip him of parliamentary immunity. He waited outside the IC building for 5 hours before being detained.

Thus, the parliamentarian will be under arrest for two months.

Earlier, the parliament approved the request to strip Sargsyan of immunity for assisting the "Sacred Struggle" movement and authorized actions related to depriving him of freedom. At the same time, Prosecutor General Anna Vardapetyan noted that she did not insist on placing the deputy in custody.
