Leaders of France, Great Britain, and Ukraine signed a declaration in Paris on the deployment of multinational forces on Ukrainian territory after a ceasefire.

Reuters reports this.

"Today we have made significant progress, providing reliable guarantees for lasting peace," said French President Emmanuel Macron at a press conference following the meeting. According to him, these guarantees assume that any peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine will not be violated in the future.

"Reliable security guarantees and commitments to ensure prosperity are necessary to establish lasting peace in Ukraine, and we will continue to work together in this direction," wrote US Presidential Special Envoy Steve Whitcoff on social network X. He reported that the American and European sides will continue discussions with the Ukrainian delegation this evening and on January 7. "We hope to achieve even more positive momentum in the near future," he concluded.

From the American side, in addition to Whitcoff, President Biden's son-in-law Jared Kushner participated in the meeting in Paris. From the European side - Macron, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and other European leaders.

As foreign press previously reported, the draft declaration of the Paris summit of the "Coalition of the Willing" mentioned possible obligations of the United States to support European coalition forces in case of an attack. According to the information, the document provides for the launch of a security guarantee system after a ceasefire comes into effect.

The declaration, according to media reports, consists of five key components:

- Participation in the ceasefire monitoring and verification mechanism led by the US;

- Support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine;

- Multinational forces for Ukraine;

- Commitments in case of future attack;

- Commitments to deepen defense cooperation with Ukraine.

According to the draft declaration, ceasefire monitoring will be carried out with the participation of international partners and countries of the "Coalition of the Willing." To respond to possible violations, they plan to create a special commission that will determine further actions.
