Leading Russian scientific centers are sounding the alarm: in the next 24 hours, Earth may be hit by powerful solar wind.

As reported by BAKU.WS, this was announced by specialists from the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy at the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences together with colleagues from the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

"Observations are still lagging behind the forecast, and the expected morning values of 800-900 km/s have not yet been reached," noted the laboratory.

According to scientists, at the moment the geomagnetic activity index maintains calm values. However, the situation could change dramatically during the day - indicators are predicted to transition first to the "yellow" zone and then to the "red" zone. The solar wind speed, according to specialists' calculations, will reach the "orange" level, and geomagnetic disturbances will affect our planet for 1-2 days.

Astronomers are also recording some increase in flare activity on the Sun, although clear trends have not yet been observed. At the moment, these processes do not affect Earth.
