In the USA, a racer crashed on the track due to a heart attack

American race car driver Robbie Brewer died during a race at a track in North Carolina (USA), according to CBS Sports.
Brewer was participating in a short track race in the Sportsman division at Bowman Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem on August 9. During a restart with four laps to go, the athlete lost control on a turn, and his car crashed into the barrier at high speed. It was reported that the cause of the incident was a heart attack that the 53-year-old driver suffered while behind the wheel.
After the incident, Brewer was extracted from the vehicle and hospitalized, but medical professionals were unable to help him. The information about his death was officially confirmed by the driver's family on August 10.
Brewer had been participating in racing events for 35 years. Throughout his career, he competed in 311 races, finishing first 11 times. In 2011, he became the champion of the Sportsman division.
Brewer's case is the fifth such incident at this track. The last one before the 53-year-old driver was Bubba Beck, who suffered a myocardial infarction while driving in 2022, which led to his death.
