World 281

EU and NATO countries in the format of a "coalition of the willing" are studying the deployment of troops to Ukraine after a ceasefire in formats ranging from monitoring or peacekeeping to deterrence or reinforcement of Ukrainian forces.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to TASS, this was announced by EU diplomatic service head Kaja Kallas upon arrival at an informal meeting of defense ministers of the "coalition of the willing" countries at NATO headquarters, convened at the initiative of Great Britain and France without US participation.

"The discussion continues. A number of countries are ready to participate, a number are not. But the main question is about what forces and capabilities we will need if there is peace. We are considering a monitoring mission, a peacekeeping mission, a deterrence mission, a reinforcement mission," she said, essentially listing the formats of foreign military presence in order of increasing potential contingent.
