China shocked with statement about causes and culprits behind COVID-19 emergence

Chinese authorities made a sensational statement, suggesting that the COVID-19 pandemic may have started not in Wuhan, but in the USA.

As reported by Daily Mail, the corresponding accusations are contained in a "white paper" published by the Information Bureau of the State Council of China. The document states that the United States, according to Beijing, should conduct a thorough investigation regarding the possible origin of the virus on its territory.

The report claims that the US government is evading responsibility for its own mistakes in fighting the pandemic, shifting the blame to China and politicizing the issue of the virus's origin. Chinese officials also point to the possible presence of COVID-19 in the US even before the official outbreak in Wuhan - referring to cases of respiratory diseases in 2019 and separate serological studies that detected antibodies to the virus before December 2019.

Beijing criticized the actions of the Trump administration, which claimed that the virus could have been created at the Wuhan Institute of Virology. In response, the Chinese side stated that the US has not provided the world with complete information about its own outbreaks and has not addressed the concerns of the international community.

Additionally, the report indicates that about 1500 incidents involving dangerous pathogens, including coronaviruses, have been recorded in American laboratories, although most of them were minor. China also accused the US of concealing data and called for an end to accusatory rhetoric, focusing instead on fixing its own systemic healthcare problems.
