British military came under Iranian fire during strike on base in Bahrain
British military personnel came under Iranian fire during a strike on a military base in Bahrain.
As reported by BAKU.WS, this was stated by UK Defence Secretary John Healey in an interview with the BBC.
"At the military base in Bahrain that was struck with missiles and drones, we have 300 British military personnel. Some of them were within a few hundred meters of the strike," he said.
Healey also claimed that Iran launched missiles "in the direction of Cyprus," where the British air base Akrotiri is located. "As for Cyprus, two ballistic missiles were fired in the direction of Cyprus. We now have confidence that they were not aimed at Cyprus. Nevertheless, this shows that our bases, military personnel, and civilians are currently at risk," the minister emphasized.
He added that the United Kingdom has strengthened security measures at its military bases in the Middle East in recent weeks, including by supplying additional aircraft, weapons, and radar systems. Healey confirmed that London did not participate in the Israeli and US attack on Iran but is helping to repel retaliatory Iranian strikes.
