American billionaire puts unique gold toilet up for auction
American entrepreneur Steven Cohen has put up for auction at Sotheby's a 100-kilogram gold toilet with a starting price of 10 million dollars.
As BAKU.WS reports, this was announced by The New York Times.
According to the publication, Cohen acquired this toilet, which is a sculpture by conceptual artist Maurizio Cattelan, from an art gallery in 2017. The auction will take place on November 18, and the starting price of the lot will be about 10 million dollars.
Before the auction, potential buyers will be able to personally examine the exhibit, but using it is prohibited, although it is fully functional.
Cattelan created two such toilets. One of them was stolen in 2019 from the Blenheim Palace - the ancestral home of Winston Churchill. The stolen item was never found, it is assumed that it was cut up and melted down.
