President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received the Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation, Co-Chair of the Intergovernmental Commission Alexei Overchuk on March 2.

As reported by BAKU.WS, during the meeting the Russian side expressed sincere gratitude to the leadership of Azerbaijan for the prompt assistance in evacuating Russian citizens from the Islamic Republic of Iran amid the complex and tense situation in the region.

A detailed exchange of views on the agenda of Azerbaijani-Russian relations took place.

During the conversation, it was noted that in line with the agreements reached by the leaders of Azerbaijan and Russia during their meeting in Dushanbe on October 9, 2025, the parties will carry out in the near future a set of practical steps to resolve the problems that arose as a result of the crash of the AZAL airline plane on December 25, 2024.

The mutual commitment to the further progressive development of mutually beneficial trade-economic, investment, industrial, and transport-logistics cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia was emphasized.

The prospects for the development of transport communications in the region were discussed at the meeting.

The shared intention to continue work on the development of the North-South International Transport Corridor was confirmed.

Certain humanitarian issues were also discussed.

The conversation took place in a friendly and constructive atmosphere, traditionally characteristic of the Russian-Azerbaijani interstate dialogue.
