Plastic bags, rags, and even clothing items that clogged toilets caused a change in the route of an Air India flight last week. The plane was heading from Delhi to Chicago when staff discovered that some toilets had failed.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to BBC, crew members found that eight of the twelve toilets in business class and economy class were malfunctioning. Plastic bags, rags, and clothing items that had been flushed and got stuck in the pipes were discovered inside the plumbing systems, according to a statement from Air India.

The plane had been in the air for only two hours of the planned 14-hour journey when it was forced to return to Delhi. The airline reported that it offered passengers a full refund of their tickets and the option to rebook flights.
