A gastrointestinal infection outbreak occurred on a French cruise ship, forcing hundreds of British tourists to extend their journey. According to preliminary reports, one of the passengers died after contracting norovirus.

As reported by BAKU.WS citing the Daily Mail, the deceased was a 90-year-old British man who passed away during the voyage. In addition, symptoms of the dangerous infection were identified in approximately 50 people on board. The illness is accompanied by severe vomiting and diarrhea and is highly contagious.

According to the foreign publication, the cruise liner departed from the Shetland Islands on May 6. During the route, the ship visited Belfast, Liverpool, and Brest in France, before heading to Bordeaux. The liner was then supposed to continue its journey toward Spain, but the situation with the infected passengers disrupted the plans of both passengers and crew.
