The second flare of the penultimate power class (M) of the day was recorded on the Sun on Tuesday, August 5.

This was reported to TASS by the Institute of Applied Geophysics (FSBI "IPG").

"On August 5 at 18:53 Moscow time (19:53 Baku time - ed.) in the X-ray range in sunspot group 4168 (N03W08), an M4.4 flare with a duration of 12 minutes was registered," the institute noted.

In addition, an M1.2 flare was previously reported.

In total, five flares of this class have been recorded in August, with all flares occurring in the same sunspot group.
