A new feature has appeared in WhatsApp for iPhone
The WhatsApp messenger has begun rolling out a new feature among iOS beta testers that will provide users with greater control over automatic media file downloads. The update is available in the beta version with build number 25.29.10.71. This is reported by WABetaInfo (WBI).
The innovation allows users to select the desired quality for automatically downloaded photos and videos. This option is designed to help balance traffic consumption and memory usage with the desired level of image detail.
As in the recent update for Android, users will be able to choose between two options: "Standard Quality" (compressed files to save data) and "HD Quality" (preserving maximum detail).
The settings are located in the "Storage and Data" section. It is important to note that if the sender uploads a file in HD, WhatsApp stores both versions on the server - standard and HD. By default, the user will receive the version that corresponds to their auto-download settings. When selecting standard quality, the user will always be able to view the file in HD quality later by clicking the corresponding icon to download the clearer version.
