The most beneficial fruits for strengthening health in February have been named
In winter, the body especially needs vitamin C, and one of the most accessible sources of this micronutrient remains citrus fruits - tangerines, oranges, grapefruits, and pomelo. This was reported in an interview with "Lenta.ru" by biologist Vitaly Napolov, Associate Professor of the Department of General Biology and Bioecology at the State University of Education.
As reported by BAKU.WS citing the expert, vitamin C helps strengthen immunity and protect the body from viral and bacterial infections. Besides citrus fruits, Napolov noted the benefits of persimmon at the end of winter. Persimmon fruits contain vitamins C and A, B vitamins, as well as minerals - potassium and magnesium. According to the scientist, persimmon helps maintain the function of the heart, blood vessels, and digestive system. The recommended daily intake is 2-3 fruits.
The expert also highlighted pomegranates as a seasonal winter product. "Now you can find the ripest fruits on the market. Pomegranates contain vitamins C, P, B6, B12, as well as powerful antioxidants. Their regular consumption supports immunity, heart and vascular function, improves digestion and metabolism. Additionally, they are rich in potassium, magnesium, and fiber, and are beneficial for anemia and colds," Napolov explained.
In addition, the biologist advises including winter apple varieties in the diet, such as Svezhest, Severny Sinap, Orlovsky Sinap, and Simirenko. Apples are a source of vitamins C, B group, A, E, K, fiber, and potassium. They strengthen immunity, the heart, and nervous system, normalize digestion, lower cholesterol levels, and help cleanse the body.
"Bananas are also beneficial in winter: they contain fiber and pectin, provide the body with potassium, magnesium, and vitamin B6, which is involved in the synthesis of the 'happiness hormone' - serotonin. This helps combat fatigue, insomnia, and nervous tension. However, their high caloric content should be taken into account," the expert added.
