Doctor named simple way to determine individual norm of sleep hours
The optimal sleep duration can be determined without complex calculations and gadgets - it is enough to carefully observe your well-being and emotional state throughout the day. This advice was given by somnologist Alba García Aragón from the Sleep Institute in Madrid.
As reported by BAKU.WS citing the publication Hola, the specialist explained that the key reference point is not a specific number of hours, but the subjective feeling of alertness after waking up and the energy level throughout the day.
According to the Spanish expert, if a person wakes up without significant effort, does not experience pronounced drowsiness, and maintains concentration and productivity, then the sleep duration is most likely sufficient. The doctor paid special attention to emotional background: she called stable mood one of the main indicators of quality night rest.
At the same time, warning signs may include difficulty with morning waking, chronic fatigue, irritability, and absent-mindedness. In such cases, as European sleep medicine specialists note, the body either lacks hours of rest, or sleep does not provide full recovery even with formally sufficient duration.
The expert emphasized that there is no universal sleep norm. Some people need only five to six hours, while others require up to nine to ten hours of full rest. Individual needs can only be determined through regular self-observation and analysis of one's own condition.
