The main condition for reducing the risks of heart disease has been named
A sedentary lifestyle deals a serious blow to the cardiovascular system, for which regular movement is very important. Although the claim about 10,000 steps a day is a marketing gimmick, if a person uses this figure as a guideline, it is better than a complete lack of physical activity, therapist, cardiologist, and Candidate of Medical Sciences Andrey Kondrakhkin stated in a conversation with RT.
With an inactive lifestyle, the cardiovascular system does not receive the physical load it needs, the risk of excess weight increases, deconditioning develops, muscles weaken, and as a result, a person can no longer cope with even the most basic physical activity, the doctor noted.
"Diabetes, excess weight, and cardiovascular diseases all appear," Kondrakhkin added, emphasizing that the body vitally needs at least minimal regular physical activity.
The main recommendation is active movement for at least 40 minutes a day, the cardiologist noted, stressing that without this, the heart suffers greatly.
