Named drinks that should not be consumed in hot weather
In hot weather, it's better not to quench your thirst with coffee or energy drinks. The fact is that these beverages can increase dehydration, therapist Alina Kirichenko told Life.ru.
"Caffeine has a diuretic effect, intensifying diuresis and contributing to more intensive fluid excretion. It also constricts blood vessels and increases blood pressure, making thermoregulation more difficult," she noted.
Carbonated drinks, the doctor added, contain phosphoric acid and other components that can irritate the stomach lining and increase the load on the kidneys. At high air temperatures, the kidneys are already working under increased stress, trying to retain water in the body.
In summer, the doctor added, it's best to drink cold green tea with mint and lemon, water with berries, or homemade kvass.
