Nutritionists from the Universities of Delaware and Alabama recommend including oatmeal, basil seeds, spinach, yogurt, and berries in your daily diet. This was reported by the Daily Mail.
"Oatmeal is an excellent source of whole grain, rich in fiber and beneficial nutrients. Fiber promotes a long-lasting feeling of fullness, helps prevent overeating, and stabilizes blood sugar levels," says Dr. Trisha Best from the University of Alabama.
However, she warns that excess sugar and high-calorie additives can reduce the beneficial properties of oatmeal. It is recommended to combine the porridge with nuts, cinnamon, bananas, and berries such as strawberries and blueberries.
Adding berries to your diet helps maintain heart health. Blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries help fight inflammation, improve brain function, and lower blood sugar levels. Combined with yogurt, berries will provide additional beneficial substances such as probiotics, calcium, and protein.
Dr. Stacey-Roberts Davis from the University of Delaware also advises consuming spinach and basil seeds daily. According to her, two tablespoons of basil seeds contain 15 grams of fiber - more than half the daily requirement for an adult. Spinach is rich in magnesium, iron, and antioxidants that help reduce inflammation, restore muscles, and improve sleep quality.
