Girl lost her vision due to improperly worn overnight contact lenses
A Novosibirsk resident lost an eye after wearing night contact lenses - she developed a severe infectious complication that led to the loss of her visual organ.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to the Telegram channel SHOT, while attempting to put in the lens, the girl damaged her cornea, and an infection entered her eye due to the microtrauma. This provoked rapid inflammation and a sharp deterioration in her condition.
Initially, the patient experienced redness and severe eye irritation. The treatment prescribed by the ophthalmologist did not help: the pain intensified, and her condition continued to worsen. Later, doctors diagnosed infectious keratitis caused by amoebas.
It is reported that the girl developed an abscess and corneal ulcer. She underwent several surgeries, but doctors were unable to save the eye - medical professionals made the decision to remove the visual organ. Afterward, the patient was fitted with an ocular prosthesis.
However, as clarified, the problems did not end there: inflammation and redness appeared in the second eye as well. Doctors continue to monitor her, as there remains a risk of damage to the remaining visual organ if infection is present or if her immunity decreases. Additionally, against the background of the illness and general weakening of the body, the girl also developed diabetes.
