Doctor explained how fast food and dementia are connected

Frequent consumption of fast food can lead to the development of dementia, Alzheimer's disease, and nervous system disorders in the long term. This was stated by gastroenterologist and expert from the "Gemotest" laboratory Ekaterina Kashukh in an interview with RIAMO.
According to the specialist, regular consumption of fast food negatively affects the intestinal microflora, which, in turn, influences cognitive functions through metabolic processes.
Kashukh also noted that according to several studies, an addiction to fast food may be associated with an increased risk of developing depression. However, as the doctor emphasized, such conclusions require a cautious approach.
In addition, fast food can cause a general deterioration in health. A diet based exclusively on burgers and french fries can lead to vitamin deficiencies and serious complications due to the lack of necessary vitamins and fiber in such food. The risk of obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases also increases.
