The metro operating hours will be extended due to the Qarabag match
Baku Metro will switch to a special operating mode on the night of February 18-19. This decision was made in connection with the long-awaited UEFA Champions League match between Aghdam's "Qarabag" and the English club "Newcastle United." For the convenience of thousands of fans, the metro's operation will be extended by one hour.
As reported by BAKU.WS, this was announced by the press service of "Baku Metro" CJSC.
According to the capital's mass events plan and based on the official request from the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan (AFFA), on the night of February 18-19, entry to all stations will be open to passengers until 01:00.
"At the "Ganjlik" station, located in close proximity to the country's main football arena - the Tofig Bahramov Republican Stadium - a set of special measures will be implemented. The station will switch to an enhanced operating mode, for which additional personnel will be allocated to regulate passenger flow and ensure safety.
To respond promptly to crowd density, reserve trains will be prepared at the depot, ready to enter the line at any moment if necessary. Despite the introduction of a special train schedule after the match, the current autumn-winter service interval will generally be maintained.
Control and security measures will also be significantly strengthened at the hub and neighboring stations - "Nariman Narimanov" and "28 May," - the statement from the agency says.
