Lionel Messi's card from the Panini collection of his debut season 2004/05 for "Barcelona" was sold at auction for a record $1.5 million, exceeding the previous record of Pele's 1958 card ($1.33 million).
The item received the highest quality rating of "10" and a diamond certificate of authenticity from Mike Baker Authenticated.
Just a few days before this deal, Goldin Auctions sold another similar Messi card for $1.1 million.
