Azerbaijani boxer claimed victory over Armenian opponent
The quarterfinal bouts of the international boxing tournament "Strandja" have kicked off in the Bulgarian capital Sofia.
As reported by Oxu.Az, two athletes from the Azerbaijani national team successfully passed this stage and advanced to the semifinals.
Bilalkhabashi Nazarov (50 kg) faced Rudolf Garboyan (Armenia). In his first international tournament among adults, the Azerbaijani boxer defeated the reigning European champion with a score of 4:1, eliminating his opponent from the competition.
In the semifinals, B. Nazarov will face Siyavush Mukhammadiev (Ukraine).
Malik Hasanov (65 kg) also claimed another victory, confidently defeating Yertugan Zeynullinov (Kazakhstan) with a score of 5:0. For a spot in the final, Hasanov will compete against Yuri Falcão (Brazil).
By securing their places in the semifinals, both boxers have guaranteed themselves at least bronze medals.
It should be noted that the semifinal bouts at "Strandja" will take place on February 28.
