New head coach of the Azerbaijan national Greco-Roman wrestling team appointed.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to the Wrestling Federation, the aforementioned organization has signed a contract with Mohammad Bana, under whose leadership Iranian athletes have won a total of 4 Olympic gold medals.
Nureddin Rajabov has been appointed as the senior coach of the national team. The coaching staff also includes Rovshan Bayramov, Sabah Shariati, Bahruz Hazratipur, and Rasul Jazini Dorche.
It is noted that under Bana's leadership, the Iranian team won three gold medals at the 2012 London Olympics, setting a new record in the history of Iranian wrestling. At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, the neighboring country's team under his guidance added another gold and bronze medal to their collection. In 2011, Bana was recognized as the best coach in the world by FILA (now UWW) and was awarded the "Courage" order in Iran.
Mohammad Bana is considered one of the most successful and authoritative head coaches in the history of Greco-Roman wrestling. His coaching approach is based on the principles of systematic training, discipline, tactical thinking, and psychological resilience.
