Important warning about bird flu

In recent years, the epizootic situation regarding highly pathogenic avian influenza in the world remains tense. Our country is considered a risk region as it is located on the routes of spring and autumn bird migration. The Food Safety Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (FSAA) keeps the situation under constant control.

As reported by Baku.ws, based on data from the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH), restrictions have been imposed on the import of risk products from regions where cases of the disease have been recorded.

According to the results of recent epizootic monitoring, no cases of avian influenza have been registered in the country. Nevertheless, the FSAA has issued important recommendations for citizens, private farm owners, and industrial enterprise managers:

Main safety requirements:

- Keeping birds only in enclosed spaces

- Preventing contact between domestic and wild birds

- Immediate reporting of cases where dead birds are found

- Strict adherence to hygiene rules when in contact with birds

- Prohibition of bird transportation without veterinary documents

- Ban on selling live birds in unauthorized places

- Avoiding contact with wild birds in public places
