AZAL: New Airbus and Boeing aircraft will join the fleet by 2032

Delivery of new Airbus and Boeing aircraft to the fleet of CJSC "Azerbaijan Airlines" (AZAL) is planned until 2032.
As Report informs, this was stated by the head of AZAL's Strategy and Business Development Department Vasif Manafly during the first session of the National Business Development Forum on "Discussion of issues and proposals for the development of transport infrastructure" in Baku.
"Today, the average age of aircraft is 14 years, which affects the decrease in customer satisfaction and the increase in operating costs. As part of the fleet renewal, three Airbus aircraft were put into operation in 2023. In addition, serious steps have already been taken in this direction. Furthermore, one of the biggest achievements was the signing of contracts with Airbus and Boeing in 2023 for the purchase of more than 20 new aircraft. Their delivery to AZAL's fleet is planned until 2032," he said.
It is worth noting that AZAL became the first airline in the post-Soviet space to start operating Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft.
According to the strategic plan, by 2030 AZAL's fleet will consist of only two types of aircraft - narrow-body Airbus A320 Neo family aircraft and wide-body Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.
Currently, AZAL's fleet consists of 25 aircraft of various types. At the same time, to accommodate the growing passenger traffic, the airline has temporarily leased three Airbus A320 aircraft.
