In addition, a rare phenomenon - a "blood moon" eclipse - will be observable in North America. On the night of March 13-14, the full Moon will turn a deep red color for more than an hour.

The publication notes that the Sun's approach to "solar maximum" and the spring equinox next week create favorable conditions for geomagnetic storms. In this regard, there is a small chance of seeing the northern lights during the lunar eclipse.

Meanwhile, social media users noticed a whimsical image in NASA photos - they discerned a face with a large nose and mustache on the Sun's surface. However, scientists explain that these are merely spots formed under the influence of strong magnetic fields.
